Notes

MdaB overexpression results in resistance to cytotoxic drugs including adriamycin, etoposide and the tumoricidal agent DMP 840. Induced 25-fold by 2-methylene-4-butyrolactone and 2-methyl-1,4-naphthoquinone (menadione). mdaB is in an operon with ygiN. Reduces menadione to menadiol. May have some nitroreductase activity. Paradoxically also reported to be NADPH-specific.[4]
