Mutations in an L box riboswitch regulated by free lysine is in the lysC mRNA 5' UTR confer resistance to S-(2-aminoethyl)-L-cysteine (AEC) by derepressing lysine biosynthesis and outcompeting AEC inhibition of LysRS (Ataide, 2007).[4]
