Notes

Glutamine Synthetase GlnA regulates cytoplasmic nitrogen levels. It catalyzes the reaction between glutamine and oxoglutarate to form 2 molecules of glutamate. The reaction is energetically expensive and consumes one ATP per reaction. The enzyme catalyzes the final step of ammonia fixation. Glutamine synthetase is thought to interact with PII proteins and regulates ammonia fixation rate in other bacteria.
