YedZY has other in vitro substrates, physiological role unknown; mutant had no growth defect. Verified Tat substrate: YedY has a Tat/Sec (Class II) 44 aa signal peptide (Tullman-Ercek, 2007). YedY is attached to membrane by the YedZ subunit. DmsD and TorD can act as REMPs for YedY.[4]
