Bifunctional bacterial antizyme AtoC(Az) binds to and inhibits ornithine decarboxylase. AtoCS mutants have lowered complexed poly-(R)-3-hydroxybutyrate (cPHB) levels: the ato operon is required for maximal cPHB production (Theodoroua, 2006).[3]
