Overexpression increases di- and tri-peptide transport and confers hypersensitivity to alafosfalin (Weitz, 2006). TppB was originally characterized in S. typhimurium. OmpR regulon. tppB is weakly stimulated by anaerobiosis in E. coli; Salmonella tppB is strongly stimulated by anaerobiosis. tppB in both species is not regulated by osmolarity. Salmonella tppA regulatory mutations were shown to be ompR mutations. Salmonella tppB mutants are resistant to the tripeptide antibiotic alafosfalin and cannot satisfy a leucine requirement with trileucine (Gibson, 1984). Major Facilitator Superfamily (MFS).[4]
