Because Skp is a periplasmic chaperone, interaction data should be interpreted with caution. Many of the interactions reported large-scale interactome experiments using whole cell extracts [8] are with cytosolic proteins. Jachow et al [10] identified possible Skp substrates by examining interactions from periplasmic extracts.
