acrA was first identified as an acridine sensitive mutation. acrA is a mutational suppressor of topA deletion inviability in low osmolarity medium. AcrA is attached to the inner membrane. acrA is an acrE paralog. AcrA is trimeric. Mar regulon. First 24 aa are a type II signal peptide.[4]
