Barbara Bachmann describes the pedigrees of strains in the CGSC as of 1972, as derived from lab notebooks from several sources. A list of the strains placed in the pedigrees is in Table 1. Some notable strains
- W3110 (Chart 8 on page 535) was derived from E. coli K-12 through three described intermediates via UV, selection on motility agar, and screening for gal+ EMB-galactose agar.
- C600 (Chart 2)
The first sequenced strain MG1655 is not in these pedigrees, but its pedigree can be found in Bachman's paper in the ASM "E. coli Salmonella book."[1]
