Significance

You can help EcoliWiki by summarizing why this paper is useful

Barbara Bachmann describes the pedigrees of strains in the CGSC as of 1972, as derived from lab notebooks from several sources. A list of the strains placed in the pedigrees is in Table 1. Some notable strains

  • W3110 (Chart 8 on page 535) was derived from E. coli K-12 through three described intermediates via UV, selection on motility agar, and screening for gal+ EMB-galactose agar.
  • C600 (Chart 2)

The first sequenced strain MG1655 is not in these pedigrees, but its pedigree can be found in Bachman's paper in the ASM "E. coli Salmonella book."[1]
