Comments (originally from EcoCyc[1]) Ribosomal RNA transcription is subject to complex regulation. The primary targets of regulation are the seven ribosomal promoter regions, each of which contains two promoters (rrn P1 and rrn P2) that direct sigma 70 RNA polymerase holoenzyme to bind and transcribe a large precursor containing the three ribosomal RNAs [3][4][4][3][3][4][5][6][4][3][5][7][8][9][10][3][4].Additional reference:Keener J. and Nomura M.
