Notes
Y-Mel (CGSC5032) is described[1] as a strain unable to utilize mellibiose derived from E. coli K-12. The Y is for Yale.
Y-Mel, sometimes written Ymel (For example, see Coukell and Yanofsky[3]) is often used as an indicator strain for phage experiments.
