Category:Inoviridae
The Inoviridae family of bacterial viruses have circular single (+) stranded DNA genomes and helical symmetry. [1] It encompasses 2 genera and has 57 filamentous or rod-like members. [1] There are 15 phages identified in the Plectrovirus genus; they only infect Mycoplasma and are short non-flexible rods. [1] The remaining 42 phages are members of the 29 Inoviridae species, and their hosts include E. coli, Clostridium and Propionibacterium. [1] The Inoviridae vary in length as well as rigidity, but as with Plectrovirus, they do not have any lipid components. [1]
