General Description
Invagination of the membrane that occurs after replication to separate daughter cells.
Components
FtsZ(Z ring), FtsA, FtsK, FtsN, FtsI, FtsE, FtsX, etc.
In order to ensure the chromosome doesn't get guilitined, TopoIV and the XerCD recombinase is also localized to the septa, via FtsK, but they are not involved directly in the membrane closure.
Function
Regulation
Z ring formation can be inhibited by sulA (recA- dependent SOS response)
