Notes
The C-terminal domain of the RNA polymerase alpha subunit is important for MelR-dependent activation of the melAB promoter. An 18 base pair MelR binding site is necessary for MelR transcription activation because it ensures correct interactions with RNA polymerase sigma subunit.[4]
