Notes

LacA contains 8 hexapeptide repeats. The initiator methionine is only partially cleaved (Fowler, 1985). LacA confers selective advantage to cells growing on beta-galactosides in the presence of non-metabolizable analogs, presumably by acetylating the analogs and blocking their uptake (Andrews, 1976).[4]
