The U169 deletion is from strain Hfr3000 U169. The lacZ and lacY genes are removed by the deletion and it was named ΔlacU169. The deletion was later found to include argF and lacI.[1] Analysis using DNA microarrays revealed that the deletion extends from mmuP through orfs preceding argF, through lac to mhpD.[2] The lacU169 deletion has been widely used and is present in >1,000 strains at the Coli Genetics Stock Center.
