Description
an overproduction of colanic acid, an exopolysaccharide common to enteric bacteria, is the main cause of a mucoid phenotype[1].
Basis for the Phenotype
Below is a list of papers that discuss the characterization of the mucoid phenotype
- REGULATORY MECHANISMS FOR SYNTHESIS OF CAPSULAR POLYSACCHARIDE IN MUCOID MUTANTS [2]
- THE CAPSULAR POLYSACCHARIDE OF A MUCOID VARIANT OF E. COLI K 12.[3]
- Control of colanic acid synthesis[4]
Mutants
Phenotypic Suppressors
- Ochre Suppressors[7]
