Useful Materials and Methods
You can help Ecoliwiki by describing the useful materials (strains, plasmids, antibodies, etc) described in this paper.
This paper describes the isolation of E. coli K-12 strain J53 (called J5-3 in the paper). The genotype of J53 is F+ Met-Pro-. Drug-resistant derivatives of this strain have been used as recipients in mating assays. A spontaneous mutant of J53 that is resistant to 250 ug ml-1 sodium azide was isolated by Jacoby and Han (1996) and named J53 AziR.[1] Derivatives of J53 that are resistant to nalidixic acid (J53-1)' or rifampicin (J53-2) were isolated and described by Coetzee et al. (1972).[2]
