Lambdoid phage

The lambdoid, or lambda-like, phage include λ, several Hong Kong phage (see HK97, HK022), and phi80, among others (including some Salmonella phage). [1] [2] The lambdoid phage are grouped together on the basis that they share a common genetic map.[2] Viable hybrids can form as a result of recombination between different species of lambdoid phage, including partial and complete prophages. [2] Although some elements serve the same function among lambdoid phages, not all elements are homologous across the group. [2]
