Glimmer finds proposed genes in bacterial genomes by building and using Hidden Markov Models. Glimmer is available via NCBI as a web tool or the source can be downloaded and compiled for local use from the Glimmer website at the Univ. of Maryland Institute for Advanced Computer Studies.
