General Description

Newly replicated chromosomes must be separated into daughter cells. Topological constraints are alleviated via Decatenation and molecular constraints are resolved via Chromosome Dimer Resolution.

Components

Topological constraints, such as catenanes, precatenanes, hemicatenanes, and knots are separated with Topoisomerase IV. Molecular constraints, such as resolution of chromosome dimers occur using XerCD mediated site-specific recombination.
