About
Description (originally from EcoCyc[1][2]) γ-glutamyl kinase
Comments (originally from EcoCyc[1][2]) Glutamate 5-kinase catalyzes the first reaction in the synthesis of proline and is coded for by the gene proB. The second reaction is catalyzed by glutamate-5-semialdehyde dehydrogenase, coded for by the proA gene. It has been determined that these two enzymes form a complex and that the presence of GSA dehydrogenase is necessary for the glutamate 5-kinase activity. [3]
