About
Description (originally from EcoCyc[1][2]) betaine aldehyde dehydrogenase
Comments (originally from EcoCyc[1][2]) Betaine acts as an osmoprotectant in E. coli. E.coli can take up betaine from the environment or synthesize it from externally supplied choline. Betaine aldehyde dehydrogenase (BADH) catalyzes the second reaction in the two-step pathway. [3][4]
