About

Description (originally from EcoCyc[1][2]) nitrite reductase complex

Comments (originally from EcoCyc[1][2]) The gene products of nrfA, B, C, and D are essential for the formate-dependent nitrite reduction to ammonia. The nrfA gene encodes the cytochrome C552 which functions as the reductase. NrfB encodes a cytochrome C that acts as the direct electron donor for the reductase. NrfC and D encode transmembrane proteins that participate in the electron-transfer chain of the nitrite reductase reaction. [3][4]
