Research Interests

Dr. Ball (PhD, UCLA, 1992) is a Senior Research Associate in the Biochemistry Department of Stanford University School of Medicine. The director of the Stanford Microarray Database, Dr. Ball’s research interests include analysis, integration and modeling of large-scale biological data. Dr. Ball participates in two collaborative projects to provide model organism databases for M. tuberculosis (TBDB) and E. coli (EcoliHub). As a member and former president of the MGED Society, Dr. Ball has been closely involved in establishing data standards and ontologies that can be used to annotate and to exchange gene expression data derived from microarrays. Her research projects include evaluating and addressing researcher needs for meeting minimal data sharing standards.
