===Notes===
{{BacktoTop}}

rpoE is transiently induced after a cold shock, dependent on the presence of PNPase. Induced by, and increases resistance to, Cd(II), Zn(II) and Cu(II). rpoE is an essential gene that can be disrupted only in the presence of unlinked suppressor mutations, e.g. ydcQ (De Las Penas, 1997, Button, 2006).<ref name='LIB:EcoGene'/>
