Notes

Major Facilitator Superfamily (MFS). YdiN is upregulated in shikimate-producer during carbon starvation (Johansson, 2006). ydiN is in an operon with shikimate genes ydiB and aroD. YdiN may be involved in the transport of shikimate or byproducts (quinic acid and 3-dehydroshikimic acid) of its overproduction: a second transport system for shikimate has not yet been mapped (Brown, 1976; Knop, 2001).[4]
