AcpH is required for turnover of the acyl carrier protein (ACP) prosthetic group 4'-phosphopanthetheine at Ser36 in vivo. Structural modeling and site-directed mutagenesis experiments indicate that the AcpH/DUF479/COG3124 family are members of the HD superfamily of metal-dependent phosphohydrolases, although lacking a usually conserved His residue (Thomas, 2006).[3]
