Notes

GalM substrates include D-galactose, D-glucose, L-arabinose, D-xylose, maltose and lactose. Some GalM activity is found in the periplasm. GalM has been removed from the Verified set: although the N-terminal sequence demonstrates the initial Met is not cleaved, the protein was overproduced using a vector-encoded RBS; nonetheless, the start site is likely to be correct (Bouffard, 1994). galM, yphB and yihR are paralogs.[4]
